He's the biggest, toughest and most competitive of his two devilish brothers and half sister.

That's why Devil Keepers at Healesville Sanctuary have named one of its newest Tasmanian Devils Storm after the Melbourne Storm Rugby Team.

Louis Fanene and Kevin Proctor from the Melbourne Storm Rugby Team had "a devil of a time" at Healesville Sanctuary to celebrate Storm the Devil's naming day.

The Tasmanian Devil is threatened by a serious Facial Tumour Disease, a fatal and contagious condition that is spreading through wild populations. Healesville Sanctuary is part of a breeding program to try and save the critically endangered species.

Tasmanian Devil Storm and his brothers and half sister are on display in the Devils' Playground.

• Tasmanian Devils produce a strong odour when under stress, but not when calm and relaxed
• Their scientific name ‘Sarcophilus' means ‘lover of death' due to their preference for scavenging on already dead animals
• Tasmanian Devils can open their mouths to a 120-degree gape
• A Devil makes a sharp sneeze as a challenge to other Devils, generally before a fight
