Giraffe Harold takes a walk on the wild side

25 February 2010
Out of quarantine and meeting new friends

Giraffe Harold has been released from quarantine and is making new friends in the wide open grassy plains at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

The friendly 18 month old giraffe was in quarantine for several weeks following a 700 kilometre road trip from his former home, Monarto Zoo in South Australia.

Keepers are delighted Harold is settling in well and seems confident, friendly and relaxed.

His older brother, Kona, who is currently in quarantine, will be joining Harold in the Lower Savannah in a few weeks.

There are now six giraffe at Werribee Open Range Zoo that graze alongside rhinos, zebra and antelope.
