Healesville Sanctuary presents an engaging day of activity where you get to spend a day working alongside our keepers.

Keeper for a Day runs every school holidays and has been specially designed to inform and engage secondary students in a very hands on way about the many varied skills and tasks of our zookeepers.

Restrictions 
  • Covered shoes must be worn
  • Bring your camera to capture the moment
  • All participants must agree to follow the keeper and/or education staff instructions

Participants will have the opportunity to be involved in a number of real zookeeping tasks, including:
· Food preparation
· Animal enrichment
· Enclosure maintenance
· Egg sorting
· Browse collection and change
· Keeper talks
· Animal health checks
· Animal handling

The day also includes:
· a comprehensive tour of ‘off limits areas’
· the Spirits of the Sky presentation
· the chance to speak with keepers about their jobs.
